Show navigation link appears in topics returned from Zoom Search results

I'm using RH7 to generate WebHelp and have followed Peter's instructions on how to incorporate Zoom Search into my output. I've got it working, but the "Show" link appears when I select topics listed in the search results. This is particularly confusing because the navigation pane automatically appears when I open the project. Once I select a topic from the search results, I can use that "Show" link to display a second navigation pane (see attachment).

Is there any way to prevent that "Show" link from appearing when I select topics listed in my Zoom Search results so users won't see double navigation panes? Note that the setting on the second screen of the Generate Primary Layout (WebHelp) wizard (WebHelp Navigation) called Show Navigation Pane Link in Topics does not control this. That is, I get the same result whether that option is checked or unchecked.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there

I might respectfully say you are mistaken. The option you cited:

Whether the Show link is present or not is precisely controlled by this option.

The fact you are saying you still see it is indicative that you aren't exactly looking at the latest files after generating with the option to include the link being disabled.

Wow! Thanks for the very quick response - I do appreciate it!

I just generated my project again, making sure that the Show Navigation Pane Link in Topic option was not checked, yet I got the results that I indicated in my posting. Please note that the "Show" link appears ONLY when I select a topic from my list of Zoom Search results, not when I navigate within my WebHelp or when I open individual HTML files in my WebHelp output either.

I'm going to chase down the URLs for each path and see where Zoom Search is going to get the topics. Thanks again for the speedy response!

Regards

- Beth

Hi Beth

My guess is that you will likely find that your ZoomSearch is pointing to a different set of topics.

I say this because when you generate your WebHelp with the "Show Navigation Pane Link in Topics" turned off, topics don't have the code needed to cause the link to appear. So the only reasonable explanation here would be that the WebHelp is in location A, with ZoomSearch pointing to a different set of topics found in location B.

I suppose one simple way to confirm this would be to locate a topic that presents from ZoomSearch with the Show link. Edit that topic in RoboHelp so you know it has been edited. Perhaps insert an image or make some text big and bold. Generate your WebHelp and test. Then locate the same topic using ZoomSearch and see if it has the changes. If not (which is what I'm expecting you to see) you know ZoomSearch is finding different topics.

Cheers... Rick
