Question

So can you just drop HTML5 output in place of previous WebHelp output and expect it to work...

Recently moved from RH9 to RH10. I produced HTML5 output using the same files and Map IDs as the WebHelp output used from RH9. I even made sure the htm output file was the same name. When dropped into the product, the CSH icons no longer bring up the correct topic, they just launch the entire help system. Should I be able to just replace the help files, or will the developers have to reprogram how help is called? At a previous job, I went from RoboHelp-generated WebHelp to Flare-generated HTML5, and all the map IDs worked just fine. Seems RH to RH would work too.

There's one catch: The CSH call has changed (for the better). Depending on the API you are using, your developers must change the function to call the help. All Map ID's will keep working.

Is this for all help produced by RoboHelp 10, or just HTML5? We may be returning the product if they changed the webhelp calls.

Just HTML5. WebHelp isn’t changed. (Though changing the help call should be a breeze for your developers.)

And if you want to call HTML with a WebHelp call, it’s relatively easy to make that work as well. Is this something you are interested in?
