SWF linked by reference in FM does not update in RH when FM files are updated

Hi all, using TCS2 on WindowsXP.

I have a FM book with a Captivate SWF linked by reference. When I link my FM book into RH, all works nicely. But here's the catch - when I change something in my Cativate project and re-publish the swf (to update the old swf), although the FM SWF updates to the new one, RH does not. The SWF found in RH is the one from the original instance of linking the FM book.  This is an issue as it seems to be hampering my 'single sourcing' world.


Any thoughts?

Any ideas...  This makes my single sourcing from Captivate to FM, to RH, etc. a bit difficult if my SWFs won't update.

I'm sure there is something I'm missing here, but for all the tweaking in the world I can't make it work...

Are you able to just delete the SWF from RoboHelp? I'm thinking that if you could do that, the SWF would simply have to update from FM as it wouldn't be found any longer.

I do realize it's a kludge and things should simply just *WORK*, but we do live in an imperfect world.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the reply. Actually, that's part of the wierdness. I cannot delete the SWF out of Robohelp. It is part of the files included in my topic, and when I right-click I can Edit, View, Explore, or see properties. I'm sure there is a good reason - I just don't know what it is, at present.

Here's an interesting work around: I can edit the Captivate file from within RH (instead of from within Captivate) - this edits the SWF and seems to (initial testing) update both my RH doc, my FM files, and the ensuing PDFs (when re-generated).

However, I guess now I have the issue of how do I delete a SWF altogtether from RH if the need arose.

I think I'll post a question about the delete in a separate thread in the RH forum.

I'll update back here if I get more information.

OK- I have just discovered that images (PNGs) also imported by reference in my FM doc, linked into RH - when I change the PNG, FM updates

no problem, but RH ignores the new PNG!!

Please, I hope someone can help me!  What is going on????

I think I have solved part of the issue- there is a setting in the Conversion settings of do-not regenerate images. If that is NOT selected, images update.

Now, onto the myterious SWF...

If you edit some text on the FM page that has the SWF on it, does that get updated in RH? If it doesn't, then maybe you've told RH to ignore FM changes for that topic?
