Question

Template headers and footers not printing in Word

I have applied a topic template to almost all of my 400+ topics in my RoboHelp X5 project. When I generate the printed docs (Word), none of the headers or footers display. Does anyone know why? I've searched the Help and this forum. Thanks.

... and I believe Father Christmas is on the way too.

Sorry but not fixed in 6 and I don't think it is fixed in 7 either.

I believe though that this area will get looked at for the next version. You may have seen awhile back I asked for contributions on printed documentation, things that people want and that is on the list.

I see why you didn't find it. In the topic on Printed Documentation there is a section on Headers and Footers. I explain that the printed document will have its own headers and footers and there is no way around that. What I haven't specifically said is that also applies to the topic headers and footers, you don't get those either. You get what is programmed into RH, that is specific headers and footers for the printed documentation.

The solution for your requirement is the same. You have to cut and paste the content or change the headers and footers in what RH has produced.

I still have X5, so hopefully RoboHelp 7 will address this issue. (I assume it's not fixed in 6). Peter, thanks very much for the information.

They never have done in printed documentation. See the topic on my site. Sometime ago I asked for requirements for printed documentation and that is on the list that will be given to Adobe.

Peter, thanks for the information (headers and footers on templates don't display in printed docs). However, I searched your Web site and can't find the article you mentioned. Could you please send the link? Thanks.
