Question

TOC/Index tab too wide in WebHelp

I'm using RoboHelp 8 on Windows XP to create help in WebHelp format.

When I generate the help, it turns out that the TOC/Index tab area is too wide. I'd like to find a way to make the tab area narrower by default. (There doesn't seem to be any way to do this using the RoboHelp GUI. Simply dragging the dividing line to the left to make the area thinner  doesn't work.)

I read that you can do this by editing the .skn file in Notepad and changing the value of the first occurrence of "frameset cols". I tried this, but it seems to have no effect on the width of the tab area.

Has anyone out there successfully changed the TOC/Index tab area width? If so, I'd love to know how you did this…..

Thanks, Frank

Hi Frank and welcome to the RH community.

Go over to Rick Stone's site and download his Skinny on Skins. In there is the solution you are looking for.

I downloaded "Skinny on skins" and found my answer.

What I did incorrectly in my first attempt at fixing the problem was to save the .skn file in Notepad without making sure that the setting was ANSI.

Anyway, my problem is fixed and I'm a happy camper....

Thanks, Frank
