I just tried to open an old project... it's been about a year since I worked on it...

When i try to open the .hpj file, i get some weird window called Workshop.. it tells me that the file doesn't exist.. yet i see it there...

so... then I went to RH Classic (v. 9)... opened it, then tried to open the hpj file from there... that was ok, except that it only opens the left pane... and says that I need a newer version of MS Word - so i can't open any of the topics...

I'm not sure what happened... I don't believe that my main office apps have been updated in that time...

Is it really that i need to get an upgrade? if so... what version do i need to get.. do i need 5.X? i know this is a stupid question.. but will 5x use/create "classic" files?

the engineers must have the .hlp and .cnt files for use in the app.

Sorry if these are all stupid questions.. but i'm a bit in shock that this has come up.

I don't disbelieve you but I would sure like to see a screenprint of that message if you could oblige. You can contact me via my site. Thanks.

Hi again Peter..

nope.. i got the error correct.. i was reading it as I typed the initial request for help... :-/

I've let my boss know we probably need to plan an upgrade for early next year.

Word 10 is Word 2002 and that might be too late a version. I think perhaps that only worked with Word 2000. I think you got the message wrong as I have not known RH complain it needs a newer version.

The first problem is probably because your hpj file has become associate with Workshop rather than RoboHelp. You can change the file association in File Mangler.

It is more usual for RoboHelp to complain your version of Word is later than expected. What version do you have?
