Unclear instructions "regenerate flashhelp"

I am trying to apply the Robohelp hotfix on a user's computer, located at:

http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-23.html

The last step is to "Regenerate flashhelp output" and "Regenerate RoboHelp for Word output, and publish to the HTTP Server."

I don't use this program, so I have no clue what that means. Can someone please clarify how to do this?

Welcome to our community

When you bake cookies, you mix ingredients in a bowl, place them on a cookie sheet and bake them. RoboHelp is similar. You edit topics and that is like mixing the dough in a bowl. You then start a process of Generating the otuput. That's like baking the cookies.

Just like you transfer the cookies from the baking sheet to the cookie jar, you must handle the generated content from RoboHelp. That's what is meant by publish to the HTTP server. You are copying the generated content from your hard drive to the server.

Hopefully this helps... Rick

Thank you for your reponse, Rick.

The instructions on the hotfix says to just copy over some html & js files to certain folders in the Robohelp program files, then "regenerate flashhelp."

I assumed that regenerating flashhelp involved publishing the changes, however is that done by clicking on something within the program? Or running a certain exe file? I am a helpdesk IT, so I do not know about the develper aspect of the program. I just need to have the hotfix applied so that our vulnerability scan stops flagging this computer for RoboHelp causing a cross site scripting security flaw. Will rebooting apply the changes? I appreciate your help.

Danielle

Hello again Danielle

Sorry for not providing more detail. As you mentioned that you didn't use RoboHelp I felt that providing a step by step would be wasted talk. So who is your RoboHelp developer? Shouldn't that person be applying the hotfix? Or at least be in the conversation here?

Indeed regenerating the output *MAY* be handled by clicking a button. But it all depends on different things such as which of the different SSL "recipes" has been configured as the default or primary layout.

Generally speaking you would open the Single Source Layouts pod, then double-click the layout for FlashHelp. From there, you would ensure the settings were as you wanted and you would proceed to generate.

As you can hopefully see, it does require a bit of familiarity with the application in order to successfully use it.

I might suggest you get your RoboHelp developer involved in this conversation.

Cheers... Rick
