Understanding RoboHelp Versioning (2022)

RoboHelp 2022 appears to have three named releases so far:

  • 2022 <- the initial release
  • 2022 Update 1
  • 2022 Update 2

I recently installed RH 2022 (today) on my macOS device. When I go to the Adobe RoboHelp menu item, there is an About RoboHelp 2022.1.187 option that displays a dialog with this same version information (along with other details).

What is the correlation of a named release and its version (on macOS and Windows)? In other words, fill in the following...

  • RoboHelp 2022 = Version 2022.?.?
  • RoboHelp 2022 Update 1 = Version 2022.?.?
  • RoboHelp 2022 Update 2 = Version 2022.?.?

It would be really nice if the named release was displayed in ( )s next to the version number where it appears in the application so that it would be super simple to know which named release you have installed.

Also note that update 1 (which you have installed) has a bug and you'll need to manually download update 2. Try the easy to miss links in Alert box in the What's New page: https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/using/whats-new-robohelp-2022-release-update-2.html

The middle number is the 'minor' version and reflects the update number. This is fairly common practice in software release versioning these days. The final numbers are usually referred to as a 'patch' or 'bug fix' version - this typically isn't of concern to us end users or others in this forum.

    Hope this helps.

    • RoboHelp 2022 = Version 2022.0.xxx
    • RoboHelp 2022 Update 1 = Version 2022.1.xxx
    • RoboHelp 2022 Update 2 = Version 2022.2.xxx
