Question

User has deleted checked out files

A user has deleted the local roboholp project folder with checked out files. (Robohelp HTML Version 9.0)

The files are published as a webpage so the content is in HTML files - is there a  way to get the content back in Robohelp?

And how can I check-in her files (there is not option in Source Control (Version 3.1.), although I have administrative rights)

Thanks for any help.

Thanks a lot for all your help. Finally I was able to checkin all files after opening the project again on the users computer. I had to change the checkin folder in Source Control (as the old was deleted) and had to update all the files with "get latest version" in Robohelp after. Now all files are in the correct status and the user can continue his work.

A good weekend to all of you!

Hi there

Not sure about RoboSource Control, but typically a source control application allows one to "Get latest version". The files should still be in the source control database, albeit with a status of "checked out". So you should be able to recover the project by simply getting the latest version. Not sure about how to go about forcing a check in from the user account that is no longer there.

Cheers... Rick

Hi,

thanks for your answer, this gives me hope that I will be able to recover the structure with the users account (I was not able to recover it with my account). Will be able to test tomorrow morning and give you a status update...

Cheers...Cibyl

As I am guessing that you are not the RoboHelp user, the chances are you will not have access to the database storing the files. Your user should have. If they didn't, I'd have thought that they wouldn't have been able to add the files to source conrol in the first place. Do let us know when you get the chance though.

First of all I assume you have checked the user's Recycle Bin to see if the source files are recoverable from there? Failing that, check out this demo on how to recover the source files from RoboSource Control.

Thank you. Yes I checked the recycle bin, it's empty... I'll tried to recover the files with another user acount, this doesn't work, I don't see all files and folders.

But I hope it will work with the user account from the user had the last checkout (will be able to test tomorrow), as I can see in SourceControl, the structure is there...
