Question

v2019 to v2020--I've got TOC or content, but not both

So we have a single RoboHELP file from version 2019 that I need to generate and lightly maintain. In a flurry of activity, our IT department tossed our CD version of 2019, and so we have only one computer that has RoboHELP 2019 and we'd like to avoid a problem when/if it stops working. To that end, I upgraded the project to 2020, and all seemed well, except when I generate the file, I get the TOC on the left, and no content on the right. Selecting a topic in the TOC pulls up the content, but the TOC disappears with no way to get it back, save for the browser 'back' button. This is true for all browsers I tried, and I've tried a number of different build options. Does anyone have any idea what may have broken, or what I'm doing wrong?

My thanks in advance for any of your knowledge.

Do that first.

Then can you share the project? If you can, then see the Contact page on my site and send the project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct.

Something is horribly messed up. First just try generating one of the supplied sample projects. In the new UI you should see them on the Starter Screen but if not then click Open Project on the Starter Screen to open File Explorer. Browse to Documents and then My RoboHelp Projects.

The page you should open to get the help working is this one. Is that what you are clicking on?

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your time. I did as you asked and generated one of the sample projects, and went off without a hitch. The generated help behaves as I would expect. I loaded the project that I upgraded from 2019 and generated again, taking close note of the start page, and I'm getting the same result when I click that page to launch the web help.

I'm going to compare the settings for responsive in the sample project to the settings that came over with the old project and see if anything is askew there. That's all I can think of to try at the moment.

Thank you!

m.

What version of RH2020? That issue sounds familiar - and that it was fixed in a patch.

There was also someone who was opening the project by double clicking the default topic rather than the start page.
