Viewing CHM files

I have an interesting monday morning mystery. I have generated multiple CHM files and I'm the only one who can view them. Is there a required viewer for my clients to be able to see the contents of the CHM file?

Yes, I'm Wendy Howard. Do you know me?

In the meantime, we found an interesting fix. I had the project files on a network server and even though my co-worker had access to the server, she could not view the CHM file until we copied it to her hard drive. Wonder why?

Hi Wendy. Microsoft put in a security patch that prevented CHM content from being viewed when the file is on a network drive. Check out this link for further info.

Hi wehoward

That name sounds familiar. Your name isn't by chance "Wendy", is it?

All that is needed in order to view a .CHM file is the Microsoft HTML Help viewer. It's on pretty much any recent Windows box.

Hi Wendy

If you are the Wendy I know, we worked together at Worldspan. The issue with the .CHM on the network has been around for a long time and is described at this link.

I suppose Wendy Howard is a common name. I did not work at Worldspan.

However, I do appreciate your quick response on this issue.

Thank you!
