Question

What is the best way to transfer a project in RH X5 Word version to RH 9 html? Any watchouts?

A project was created in RH X5 a while back and I would like to convert it to the HTML version on RH9.  Is there any shortcuts or watchouts?  Will the links transfer over from the original project in Word?

Hello,

This is a tricky situation, I would say, Peter has referred to a very good post explaining the process, nicely.

If you would like to include your topics from RHx5 HTML to RH9 HTML, I would advise you to got to your RH9 HTML project--

Select File> Import> HTML/XHTML File and Select All the ".HTM" topic files from you source RoboHelp Project. You would regain all the Topics in your Project Files list

Similarly you can either import the TOC, Index, Glossary files, individually or use RoboHelp's Auto-Generate wizard to recreate them afresh.

This is a workaround, and there is a possibility that some of your objects might not migrate as expected, as there has been a lot of change in the architecture/design of project elements from version 5 to 9.Hence, a sequential Upgarde in project is always recommended.

Thanks,

There aren't too many people moving from RoboHelp X5 HTML to RoboHelp 9 HTML, much less from RoboHelp for Word X5.

Maybe this post will provide some help.

Make sure you back up your old project before you start so that you can always go back to an untouched copy.
