What is the proper way of removing a project from version control?

We are using RH6 and Team Foundation Server and we want to remove our project and then perform some clean-up and then reload it to TFS. Is there a proper sequence we should follow? Keep in mind that there are several authors. So what should each do and what should the team leader do?

I am anxious to hear the reply to this post from the experts on the forum. The only way that I have been able to remove a project from version control was to edit the .xpj file and remove the reference - I'm pretty sure this is not the recommended way to do this, but would be interested to hear what is.

I am not a user of RHs in-built version control software. We prefer to use a different app and keep it completely separate from the RH source so that it is not integrated at all. That said, I remember some posts on these forums that alluded to the fact that you can "disconnect" a project from RoboSourceControl which just puts a local copy on your hard drive. If you search the forums I'm sure you'll find something.
