What's the best training course for a beginner? Publishing Responsive HTML5 output

Hi everyone!

I'm new to RoboHelp but will be taking over the primary help text authoring duties at my workplace in a couple of months. I've been learning a bit of RoboHelp on my own, but I learned yesterday that there may be some training dollars available for me to take an actual RoboHelp class.

I'm interested in learning everything I can, but with the intent to publish a lot of content in the Responsive HTML5 output. I have no background with HTML, CSS, etc.

I found a few courses through searching the web, but I am a bit in the dark about which one would be the best. Given my goals and level of experience, does anyone have a recommendation? Either from the list I have below, or another course that you know of?

Hi there

This depends on how you prefer to learn. I contract with different folks to provide training as well as offering training on my own.

If you are intent on traveling somewhere to "get away from the office" and learn in a classroom, one of the places such as Ledet or whatever may be good. But be advised that while you may sign up for those, there is no guarantee that class will actually happen. They "bait the hook" so to speak, then see if anyone signs up. Typically they need perhaps a total of three to warrant a class being a "go". Then they find an instructor.

I contract with a company called "Webucator". They have a class scheduled for May 21. The way Webucator works is that you are at a PC at either your home or your office, then we connect live via the internet where we converse in real time or share screens so we can see what the other is doing. So that one may be of interest to you.

I have also contracted privately with folks for classes. I work the same way as the Webucator does, via the web, and it's the same identical training you will get elsewhere, but at a lower fee. I'd be happy to speak with you privately if that sounds appealing.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the reply! It's not so much that I feel the need to get away from the office--I'd prefer not to travel, actually. But I am someone who asks a lot of questions and I tend to get more fulfilling answers in person (and the opportunity to ask more questions), at least in my experience so far.

I'll definitely check out the course you recommended, though. You have great reviews and it seems like a great course!

Hello again

Your response seems to suggest that if you were connecting for a "virtual" type class, you may think you will just be watching videos or something. But it's quite the opposite. If we were to connect in a virtual class, while we aren't "in each other's faces" physically, you are able to ask as many questions as you like in real time as they occur to you.
