Question

What type of help system is best

I am a new user (on the 30-day trial actually) who has been given the job of creating a help manual for our customers. I would like to incorporate pdf, word docs, videos and external chm into the project. What's the best alternative? RoboHelp for Word? RoboHelp for HTML? Or can I use a combination?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks from a novice.

Mike

Hi Mike. If the objective is to produce a manual (and only a manual) then I guess you could use anything format. If however you want to also have output in a CHM file or on a website then it certainly does. You could start by checking out this article on Rick Stone's excellent site which explains the differences between the formats. You should also check out this article on Peter Grainge's (also excellent) site on producing printed documentation from RH. The answer you choose will depend on where the output is to be stored and published. If only a printed manual is required, I'd probably go for a CHM or (spit) Word
