Question

When applying multilevel lists, other text disappears

Hello,

we are migrating from RoboHelp Word to RoboHelp HTML at work. I created a style sheet with multilevel list styles in RoboHelp HTML. Then I imported the HTML pages of the generated RoboHelp for Word version of our project. We have to reapply styles to the lists for all these imported pages.

But I have the following problem: When I click on a list, and indicate the mulitlevel style that should be applied to this list, I see other text disappearing a few lines below.

E.g.:

Before applying the list style (the list has an unrecognised list style of RoboHelp for Word):

"Follow these steps:

     1 first step

     2 second step

     3 third step

Then you have completed the action

and you should be able to logon"

And after applying the list style, soms text has been deleted a few lines further on:

"Follow these steps:

     1. first step

     2. second step

     3. third step

and you should be able to log on"

Did I do something wrong when importing the pages, creating the css, creating the multilevel list style, applying the multilevel list style,... ?

Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong?

Regards,

Lieselot.

No idea but if you send me a new project as per the instructions on my site, I will take a look.

You need to import the topic before it has gone wrong and make sure the same CSS is applied. State which list style it is you apply that causes the text to go missing.

Make sure you include a link to this thread when you send the project.

Hello Peter,

actually, nothing goes wrong when I import the topic. So I do import the topic before it goes wrong. The same css is already applied for all topics. The list style that I'm applying is a multilevel list style. The problem seems to show up with any multilevel list style in any of the topics. Sometimes the problem doesn't occur anymore when I just apply the style line by line, or when I add or delete a space or something.

I'm sorry, but I can't send you the project, since it's a project for work. I cannot reproduce the same situation again in another project either.

Regards,

Lieselot.

Yes I appreciate it did not go wrong on import. What I wanted was a topic in that state so that I could see it go wrong.

I wasn't after the whole project, just a topic that had the problem. However your reply would indicate this is a project specific problem.

Can you not create a copy of the project and trash all topics except one? If not, there isn't much I can do to help you.
