When renaming folders, old folder names (duplicates) reappear / topics missing from both folders

We are having problems when renaming folders.  The old folder name re-appears as a duplicate folder, and then the content (the topics) are missing from both folders!  Happens quite often.  Anyone else experience this and have a solution?  (I'm using RH 2020.8.34)

 

Should I just rename folders in Windows Folder Explorer instead?

    I have used various cloud stores and it wasn't long before I found One Drive caused issues. Others have reported the same here.

    Thank you both.  We do use OneDrive and that may be the problem.  Next time we re-name folders, we'll try shutting down OneDrive until the re-naming is finished.

    Whatever you do, don't rename in Explorer unless you enjoy repairing broken links. 🙂

    Are you using source control? Are the projects saved in a cloud location like Onedrive?

     

    I can imagine source control could cause this issue if the folder isn't correctly deleted from source control. Or for cloud drives, syncing could cause it.

     

    Note that this is just hypothesis as I'm not using either source control or cloud drives. I didn't get the duplication with a quick test in a RH2020.8 test project.
