Which .xpj file do you use to open a project in Source Control?

Question

Using RoboSource 3.1, with H9.Four users, all of us have RH9 installed locally and the data is on a network drive. So this is the question - when we want to open our project(s), we open RoboHelp, and in the Starter, we want to navigate to and select the .xpj file to open the project. Do we use the .xpj file on our local machine, where our copies of the data files are stored, or do we navigate to the remote network drive to open the project from the .xpj file there in the source controlled dataset?

To add to Willam's answer, you open the project using the .XPJ on your local PCs. Once you have the project open you should always do a "Get Latest Version All" command to ensure you update all the project elements that may have been updated by the other authors. Once you have done that, you will be able to edit away. For completeness the project's .XPJ file is oly changed if you do things like change the project's settings.

I’m a bit confused by your question. Although I don’t use RoboSourceControl, I use TFS.

Normally, you create a project locally and add that to source control from within RoboHelp. Every user gets a copy of the project from the server and works locally. When you check in changes, others can get the changes by getting the latest version of the files. You can do this from within RoboHelp too.
