I am a newbie and while I have successfully create a Help file (.chm), the search feature isn't working. I don't know if I have to manually set this up, and if so, how do I do it? If not, what might the problem be?

Try running MJ's Diagnostics to check that all the dlls are correctly registered. If they aren't, register them and try compiling the chm again.

The next thing is installing HTML Help Workshop, which Microsoft no longer offers for download, but the link should be available in the Wayback Machine (http://web.archive.org )

You might also check to see that you've got the old HTML Help Workshop software installed on the machine you're generating from.

That's the software that actually creates the CHMs - it was created by Microsoft years ago & has now been deprecated by them.

Ok - and where are you trying to launch the CHM and do the search? Local machine or on a server?

Currenly on local machine but will be integrated with app running on server.

What version of RH are you using to create this? CHM's are pretty ancient technology these days, so it could be any number of things that are messing it up.

RH 2022. As far as it being ancient technology, I didn't choose the output. Heck, the company I work for is still working with Fortran, Government work, what are you gonna do?
