Word Import doesn't work correctly after update 6

Hi,

 

I have installed Update 6 on RH 2020 and after that I am facing some problems with Word import. My headlines doesn't get the css class but it creates the class an put it in the css-file properly. It seems like the function "Import Style" impot the style but doesn't use it correctly.

 

Any ideas?

    I don't know if it will help, but I constantly struggle with keeping my Word documents set as English (Aus) rather than English (US).

     

    Every time I receive a document, I select the whole document, then on the Review ribbon click Language > Set Proofing Language, click my language, then click Set As Default.. Then, just before I import the document, I repeat those steps, as Word styles can also have a language which reapplies when you change things.

     

    I ended up also deleting English (US) from the Review Ribbon > Language > Language Preferences, although that is a bit brute force, so you may want to try the first suggestion for a while.

    The language you chose when you created the project is saved in Project Settings. When you create a new topic by default the dropdown shows Select but if you do not set anything, then in Topic Properties it will still show Select and in the source view nothing will be shown.

     

    However, the default is what will be applied and that, as above, is whatever is in Project Settings.

     

    Are you talking about topics you create or topics created when you import? If the former, please check again with a new topic and do not set a language. Where do you then see English defined? If on import, perhaps that is from the Word document.

    I ment when I import from Word the topics is set to English even though i have another project. I guess Word is the source to this. Of some reason there is two language set in the document (only Swedish (Svenska) is used) end the first is English (Engelska USA).

    You said earlier "I thought that Heading2 -> Import Style would create a css class and also put that class on the element." What I think will happen is that the imported H2 will be put in additional CSS created when RoboHelp can't map all the topics to a CSS style in the main css.

     

    Then you have H2 in your main css and an H2 in the additional css that sets some of the properties to override what is in the main css. The extra css will not be a complete H2 definition, just sufficient that combined with the main css H2, it will make the topic created during import look as it did in Word.

    There is no cache. What do you mean by the previous import pops up? Where, how?

     

    For example a topic file is set from a previous import but the file name is set correct. The headstyles is not set to correct class anylonger like before.

    Are you saying that on import the topic looks correct but after saving and closing it, next time it does not look correct?

     

    The strange thing is that in the dialogbox the mapping i set correctly but when i import all headers i set to standard without any css class.

    I see this behavior after a couple of imports and when i restart RH it seems to fix it so maybe something with the memory.

     

    I have been testnig som more and when i don't change to much with the mapping it seems to work as expected. The more I import the more RH will find in current default.css to map agains so maybe the problem will fix itself.

     

    But another thing i cant't se where it comes from is that my topics is set to "English" and i wan't it to be "default" just as it is when i create a new empty topic.

    By "Headlines" do you mean your Heading Styles in Word and are they true heading styles? Sometimes people create a style and call it heading and that will throw mapping. The fact you are saying "it creates a class" supports that.

     

    Can you give us a bit more detail and confirm this was working in Update 5 or earlier with a document with the same styles?

     

    What do you mean by "doesn't use it correctly"? That doesn't tell me what it is doing.

    Sorry I ment Heading Style. I am almost positiv that it worked in update 5. When i point out the document rh seems to scan the document and then shows me the mapping under "Paragraph" in the dialog box. I thought that Heading2 -> Import Style would create a css class and also put that class on the element. I seems like it is doing that on some of the Heading Styles but i can't figure out why it doesn't on every element. For an example the one below.
