Question

Wrong font in helpfile

I've just installed Robohelp 7 and are working on a help project originally made with robohelp 3, robohelp 4 and robohelp office 2002. However when I am generating the helpfile all fonts are in Times New Roman although that font isn't used at all in my project. I mostly use Arial and in some rare cases Futura. I have successfully re-edited the text with futura so that font is shown correctly. But the arial-text still shows in Times New Roman.

The output is Winhelp 2000 (but the same shows in Winhelp 4).

PS: I read some old topics about this about a security update for MS office in 2006 but since my computer is freshly installed with Office 2003 that update is not installed.

I don't think it will make any difference, but first apply the two patches to RH if you have not already done so.

After that I would be thinking about uninstalling RH, applying all updates to Office, then reinstalling RH with both patches and trying again.

I might first try an old trick. Make a backup of the project first. Then in Windows Explorer delete the RTF file. Reopen RH, it will whinge and then create a new RTF.

No, that doesn't work either. Almost all of the text in the project is written in the normal format which is in Arial (but shows in Times New Roman). I've tried to change text parts to other formats and sometimes this works but not always.

I was thinking more of the second highlighted solution.

Do you mean to delete the heading links to the format "Normal"? Yes, I've tried that.

One wierd thing is that one format works to 90%, some of that text is shown in Arial but the rest is in Times New Roman. I'm not 100% sure why this occurs. I think it has something to do with the normal format but I'm not sure.

Understand now.

There is another workaround on my site that worked for one person. Did you try that?

Something is wrong as nobody else has hit this problem since the X5 fix. I cannot figure out why you are.

I may be a little off here but the layout I want is in winhelp 2000 and that is also what I get but in the wrong fonts. When I tried the older dll I got the layout in html but I'm back using the original RH7 dll file and thus the winhelp 2000 layout. So I get the layout I want but not the fonts.

The workaround I'm now using is to manually change the font formats to another font and then back to arial. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

I am not following why you are not double clicking the layout you want.

Did you see the other workarounds?

I've tried both the "Generate Primary Layout" and "View Primary Layout" with the same result.

The HTML-version only showed when I tried to use the DLL-file for RH X5. Guess it was the default as you said.

I guess one way is to change the fonts from Arial to something else but since this is a large project this will be very time consuming and thus expensive.

I don't know whether or not that patch was included in a service pack. Likely but that's a guess.

That patch was for the then current version of RH (X5). You cannot use a DLL from one version in another version of RH so reinstate the RH7 DLL.

There is no way one layout can generate another one. Are you clicking the Generate icon or the layout itself? Try the latter. Sounds like HTML is set as the default.

Thanks!

Yes, that upgrade could be included in the installation but it cannot be found under Controlpanel/Add or remove programs. Maybe it's included in a service pack or something?

I've read the snippet 51 from 24 June 2006 but when using the .dll in the patch I get errors when starting Robohelp that the correct .dll cannot be found. After a number of error messages the application starts anyway and I can see my project. I try to compile a new helpfile but the result is in HTML not winhelp 2000.

Is there a later snippet that I've missed?
