Debilitating repetitive crashes in Team Project

Hi All,

Would love your input on this — I'm encountering a sudden change in behavior and totally debilitating crashes with a team project that through last week was working fine. This is quite a large and complicated project for a feature doc involving 150+ hours of footage in a variety of different formats. The storage is on a large NAS connected over 10GbE. As I said, through the end of last week the project was working fine. I was experiencing occasional crashes but since Team Projects save every action I wasn't losing any work and was singing Team Projects' praises. Then I began to encounter a problem where the team project would take forever to open, and often I would cancel, causing Premiere to hang, and I would have to force quit and try again. After a restart, the project would open normally. Then, this morning, it wouldn't open at all. I called up Adobe Support, and the tech walked me through deleting the preferences in the Library and I was able to get the project to open — except that ever since the project takes approximately 20 times as long to load the project media and it crashes within a couple of actions of starting to work. I got back on the phone with support but their best idea was that it's the fault of my NAS that the media reads in slowly, despite the fact that I get an average 800Mbps read on the NAS and I've successfully edited projects stored on the NAS for the last 9 months without a problem.

At this point I'm at a loss — I've tried all the usual tricks, deleting preferences, manually deleting the media cache etc. Any thoughts on what else I could try to get the project moving again?

Many thanks in advance,

Joe

My setup:

2013 Mac Pro (6-core) w/64GB RAM @ OSX 10.11.6

140TB QNAP NAS via 10GbE

Premiere Pro CC 2017 latest updates

Hi Paul,

Attaching log files here.

Also wondering if you can shed some light on a new quirk — I'm trying to edit a sequence from a team project in Audition, but the option is greyed out, both when I right-click on the sequence in the Project panel and when go through the Edit menu when focus is on the Timeline. However, I converted the project from a Team Project to a Project and I am able to send the sequence to Audition by both methods. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Unfortunately there is no support for Team Projects yet in Audition.

Hi Joe,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing crashes. Please can you send us the following log files so we can review them.

(Mac) (your_home_folder)/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Team Projects Local Hub/1.0/logs

(Win) C:\(your_home_folder)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Team Projects Local Hub/1.0/logs

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response. Attaching the log files here, and appreciate any thoughts.

I love the functionality of Team Projects — in theory. I've been wanting a version of Adobe Anywhere that doesn't require a massive server investment for years. I find the push/pull sharing to be a good solution, I appreciate having local media paths for each editor, and I love the autosave of every action. Once it's more stable I foresee using it on most of my projects.

A couple of suggestions, aside from stability:

1. A mechanism for reconciling/merging changes within a sequence

2. Better search/reconnect functionality in the Team Project media manager. Adding file paths seems to work fine most of the time, but sometimes you need to be able to search/locate a particular file.

Thanks again,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your reply. I unfortunately do not see any log files. Did you send them? How did you send them?
