Question

Team Project and Proxies with offsite multiple editors

I am hoping someonme here may have a solution to this. We have proxy media on multiple remote machines and a teams project setup. When ever someone load the project localy they experiance offline media, they select media and attach proxies, now when they push updates so others can pick up that edit, they ahve to reconnect proxies again. and this goes on and on. is there a solution or workaround for this?

Hi, the solution here should be to create machine specific media mapping on the remote machines via "Edit -> Team Project -> Media Management..." - Please see: Manage media in Team Projects.

We're actively working on a more intuitive worklfow to find and re-link offilne media in the context of a Team Project.

Feel free to contact me directly in case you still encounter any issue.

Udo,

It would be nice if the Team Projects workflow was either more "normal" or clearly different. As in you couldn't do the normal one in a TP project, so you would realize you had to look elsewhere. This screwed Mo and I ... well, realistically, it was I who missed this! ... on our first TP joint project, and it took us a couple days to get sorted out.

And with the people I've helped with TP work since, this has been one of the more common things to help with. So it would be SO nice to have it modified.

Thanks Neil,

Yes, I agree - The concept of creating a machine specific media mapping is one of the biggest pitfalls in the Team Projects workflow. The approach we're working on right now should feel much more "normal".

1. When you open a Team Project with offline clips, we will open the link Media dialog with the option to point to the offline files on your system.
2. You can use the Link Media menu item in Team Projects

In both cases we're still creating machine specific media mappings, but via a workflow the users are more accustomed to.
The feature is currently available in the public Beta build (with the caveat that the proxy workflow is not yet supported).

You cannot use the normal relinking process in a Team Projects project.

Anyone besides the owner/creator of the project MUST only link to media via the Edit/Team Projects/Media Management dialog.

Yea, it's different and no one expects it. But you need to relink from there.
