Team Projects Syncing Proxies with Remote Editors

I'm currently working with a remote editor on an Adobe Team Project. I have footage shot in 4K ProresHQ that I've imported into the team project. In the team project I created and attached 720p proxies to the hi-res files. I made a test timeline in which I simply imported one of the footage files. I then uploaded ONLY the proxy files to Frame.io for the remote editor. The remote editor has tried relinking the proxy files using both the "Link Media" command and Media Management dialog. Premiere's behavior seems to be very inconsistent - sometimes it finds and attaches the proxy so that the remote editor can edit it as if it were the hi-res original; other times, locating the proxy causes it to replace the 4K listing of the original file with a 720p listing, making the file appear very small in the original 4K timeline that I created. Furthermore, if the editor commits any changes to the project, I have to reconnect some or all of the media again on my side when I open and update the project. Overall, it appears that Team Projects is running into difficulties finding attached proxies properly when setting up remote media mappings that don't interfere with my local mappings or proxy attachments to the hi-res originals. My goal is to have a workflow where I can send the remote editor more manageable proxies that I have already created and attached inside the Team Project.

Hi @gwolfson and sorry for your troubles!

A first sign of possible relinking trouble can be if the 'Publish' button gets enabled after relinking media.

In context of Team Projects, it is preferred to utilize the Media Management dialog and create machine specific media mappings over the usage of the 'Link Media' dialog.
It is also recommended that the proxy media is named with the suffix '_proxy' to make it easily distinguishable from the full-res media and avoid incorrect auto association.

I'll also follow up with you via email.

Best,
Udo
