Acrobat Pro unable to delete or cut in edit mod, starting Aug 26, 2026

Acrobat Pro stopped being able to remove anything from a page either using delete or cut yesterday. It does not give any error message, the object just doesn’t go away; when deleting (either with keyboard key or with right-click menu) it acts as if you never gave the command, and when cutting (either with ctrl-X or with right-click menu) it copies the object to the clipboard but doesn’t remove the original. This is only for trying to delete objects, the delete pages function is still working fine. I noticed this starting yesterday afternoon, and a Reddit thread was started this morning where five other users (at the time of my writing this post) are complaining of having the same issue today.

I use the edit function of Acrobat Pro nearly everyday at work and have done so for many years, this is a brand new problem as of yesterday afternoon. I am running Acrobat Pro version 2026.001.21789 | 64-bit on a Windows 11 machine, and this started around 2-3pm Pacific time yesterday (Wednesday August 26).

This is a wildly problematic bug. Makes the app essentially unusable for my purposes. Please update when a solution has been found.

AT 3:30pm ON FRIDAY AUG 28 THE COPY-PASTE FUNCTION ALSO VERY ABRUPTLY BROKE!!! HAVE TRIED SHUTTING DOWN AND RESTARTING, STILL CAN’T COPY-PASTE!!!

you can use the contant tab to select and delete objects. GO to view, show/hide, navigation panes content. this will allow you to work threw every object in edit mode and delete your object.

select you way threw the list at the left. use shift select to select multiple objects and hit deleate.

Just chiming in. Issue started late afternoon two days ago. Can’t delete certain images on documents nor delete large amounts of text or tables. Can’t really use the online version. It’s slow, clunky and doesn’t have the options needed for work. This is affecting multiple co workers, work is taking hours longer as we’re trying to find workarounds.

As a workaround i’ve managed to use the web version; this is accessible via the Creative Cloud app.

We have exactly the same problem, can edit text on a pdf drawing but nothing else, i.e. the detail of the drawing. Total nightmare. You can select what you want to delete, but it doesn’t let you.

Come on Adobe, Sort this out!

I have been having the same issue starting August 27th 2026 around 7am CT. Same version on windows (2026.001.21789). I have not tried it on the Mac. There are a few work arounds, but this verry annoying and making my job take longer than it should.

Discovered that an element in a PDF couldn’t be deleted, so I figured I’d cover it with an opaque/white box and superimpose what needs to be in place as a workaround. Unfortunately, Arrange (Send to Back, Bring to Front) doesn’t work either. Irritating to say the least.
