I am trying to follow the instructions by Jeff Moran, but Vista Home Premium does not have C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adobe_00080000_tsf.data

    I searched for adobe_00080000_tsf.data
with Vista search and with Google Desktop search, but there is no such file on my computer.
I think Adobe should balance it's anti-privacy effort with a caution not to piss of its legidimate users too much.

parallels is not supported, so I have no information on that scenario for you. Sorry. You may consider starting a new thread on that topic rather than add that here though. Others may on our forum have no doubt tried it out and might be able to lend a hand.

are you aware of any issues with activation of acrobat 8 when using a boot camp partition in parallels on mac os x? i activated under windows xp native, then started booting the partition under parallels (which uses different "virtual" hardware) and now my acrobat believes it is pirated and says the activation is invalid.

    Hey Everyone,

At this point the steps that I've posted (and are posted below) have solved 5 customers issues. All of who have verified retail copies of Acrobat 8. A sixth customer was running the Trial software and his 30 day grace period had expired. He is now running on another machine without issue.

I'm not going to address the issue of the "cracked" version(s) of Acrobat. I believe any one dishonest enough to do that would not be bold enough to demand a fix from us. That's all I will say.

I am still concerned that several of you are not finding the steps below are working for you. I'm still open to more troubleshooting if you have the time. I've already posted my email address for you to use (and so far no one has abused it, thank you. Although my spam filter is catching more stuff now as the internet sniff it out, but I'm okay with that <grin>).

If you contact me I will need to know that you are running a valid copy of Acrobat. The reason being is that I'll ask for your serial number and we can follow your activations on the server. We have been seeing that the activations are failing over and over for many of our fellow friends on the thread here. The trusted storage file is corrupted. The steps below resolve that. I will also want to know that you have tried the steps below and the success.

Lastly to those who have been productive on this thread, thanks again. A big thanks to those who have said "thank you," that made my day.

Cheer
Jeff

1. Backup the trusted storage file located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adobe_00080000_tsf.data.
2. Delete the file from the location above, but not the back up. You may need to send to me later.
3. Reboot the cpu
4. Launch Acrobat and see if it requires you to activate again.
5. If it does, activate Acrobat again, If not, proceed to step 6
6. Uninstall Acrobat 8.
7. Reboot CPU
8. Install Acrobat 8
9. Launch and Activate.

I see from another chat forum that in December a "security consultant" at Adobe says the problem arises only in cracked versions of the software, so we are all obviously using cracked software! Come on Adobe get this mess sorted out.

For anyone who's having a problem, try opening Adobe Distiller and see if you get an error message. If Acrobat was not properly activated, then an error message will show up when you try to open Distiller. This will at least narrow down the possible problems you're having with Acrobat.

Also, when installing you should be required to enter two (2) different series of numbers: first and serial number and second an activation code. If you didn't do both, then you don't have full access to the program and Acrobat won't work properly.

    Hope this helps, Mel

HY FOLKs! I think i could solve this problem. If you look at services, you can see the flexnet... service. Change from system account to Administrator and the acrobat problem is gone. I tried this on several machines and it worked for me.

    Sorry for my bad english.

Just wondering if all the people who has this problem have legally activated the software, meaning that they have bought the software and have their own installation and activation key, and not used a crack to skip the activation process...
This might help, since the people complaining have the problem starting after some days of normal using (trial period) and after that the problem suddenly start to happened... If you don't activated, after the trial period when you tried to open a file, after some seconds (around 10 seconds) a windows show up asking to activate the product... If you don't activate, the program closes... So I'm guessing that some people might have thinking that they have product activated with a crack just because they don't see the window asking for activation, but after the trial period expires, the product is not longer functional and closes by itself....
    I hope it helps...
