Adobe Acrobat DC 21.005.20048 Edit PDF Menu not working

Adobe Acrobat DC - since the latest update the Edit PDF menu doesn't work. When you open the app (no doc) it works i.e. if you click 'Header & Footer' or 'More' you get a drop down menus as you would expect, but if you open a document these options no longer work. Nothing happens when you click on them. Have seen it on 4 Windows 10 devices so far this week (work in a manager IT company). I have tried lots of differnet types of documents and these same documents can be edited on older versions of the app.

Hi @ortusc43018513

Thanks for your time and for your cooperation on this.

Hope you are doing well. The fix is available now with the latest update of Acrobat and Reader DC. Please install the latest update from the following link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousjunehotfix2...

Download the setup, run it, reboot the machine (if possible) and check the app functionality.

To know more about the latest update, you can refer to this article: 21.005.20054 Optional update, June 23, 2021

Let us know if you still experience any issues.

Regards,
Anand Sri.

Hi,

Thanks for the update but it didn't work. Issues persists. We have a workaround in that the keyboard shortcuts still work but the menu items are not working.

Many thanks

Brian

Hi ortusc

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, the Edit PDF menu is not working when you open the documents with new version of Acrobat DC 21.05.20048

Are you on Windows or Mac OS and what is the version?

Please try to repair Installation (Windows Only) and see if that works. Go to Help > Repair Installation and reboot the computer once.

Is the file stored on a shared network/drive? If yes, please download the PDF to your computer locally and try to edit and check.

If it doesn't work, please try to reset the Acrobat preferences to default as described in the help page https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

Regards

Amal

Hi Amal,

I am on a windows device - Windows 10 Version 20H2 19042.1052

I have done a repair of the installation (with reboot). I have removed and reinstalled and also removed the preferences folder as advised. My profile has full admin rights. Even within that running as admin doesn't change anything.

AS I said we've seen it on 4 windwos devices.

Thanks

Brian

Troubleshooting done so far:

- Repaired application

- Reinstalled application

- Installed 64 bit version

- Reinstalled graphics drivers

- Fully updated windows (20H1)

- Set as defaulf for PDFs

- Uninstalled standard reader application

When the app opens first the menus work but as soon as you open a document they glitch out and won't work. All other PRO options will work i.e Fill and Sign, Adobe sign etc.  Have tried multiple PDFs. Up to nearly 20 clients experiencing this now in Ireland across several different offices - all Windows 10. ALl on teh latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro
