Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 Crashes Repeatedly when I attempt to insert a radio button on a PDF form

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 (Classic) version 17.012.60262.10262. I have installed all available updates.

When I attempt to insert a radio button from the form memu into a PDF document, Adobe Acrobat frequently -- but not always -- crashes. (The crashing has happened four or five times.)  I have been successful in creating the form I want, but I'd like to find out why the crashing occurs.

My version of Adobe Acrobat has a number of Evermap.com plug-ins installed (Bookmarking, Linking, Highlighters, and AutoSplit Pro), but they were not invoked during any of the sessions where Adobe crashed.

The PDF file was created using Microsoft Word 2019 (Version 2308, Build 16731.20234) using the "Save as Adobe PDF" from the File Save menu.

Any help in resolving this situation would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @Thomas26359320ze8c

Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Acrobat 2017.

To better assist you, could you please let me know if this problem is specific to a particular PDF file or if it occurs with all PDFs? It might be helpful to try opening a different PDF to see if the issue persists.

If the file is stored on a shared network or drive, I recommend downloading it to your computer locally and attempting to open it from there.

Additionally, you can try resetting the Acrobat preferences. Here's a guide on how to do it: Acrobat Preferences Reset Guide.

Another troubleshooting step you can take is creating a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows, or enabling the root account in macOS. You can then try using the application in this new profile to see if the issue persists.

Please note that Acrobat 2017 has reached its End of Life (EOL) status. You can find more information about this here: Acrobat 2017 End of Support.
