Question

Adobe PDF is crashing abruptly all the time

Hi Experts,

Well, I am experiencing a weird problem as in Adobe Acrobat 2022 is not showing up all the menu options of Tools. Due to which I am not able to perform some of the basic tasks such as adding comments or sending PDFs for shared review.

To fix the issue, I performed many things as such:

-Reinstallation of Adobe Acrobat

-Created my profile again and reinstalled all the required apps

But none of these things have helped me in any way. It is very frustrating to say there is no workaround.

Thanks, Vikas

Thanks for posting the screenshot.  Does this occur with every PDF you open in Acrobat, or does just one particular file behave like this?

Yes, Dave. It is consistently not working with each and every PDF. In fact, I checked the services related to Adobe and they seem to be working and running:

Adobe Acrobat Update Service

AdobeUpdateService

I've restarted these services a couple of times. Also, I am using Adobe Acrobat 2023 enterprise edition, installed using Creative Cloud.

Thanks. Vikas

Hi @vikasw

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

++ Adding to the discussion

Please share a screenshot or a small video recording of the issue for a better understanding.

Also, try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

Thanks for the suggestions. But I tried both the options:

Repair Adobe  but it did not resolve the issue.

Created my profile again and installed the Adobe Acrobat Pro again. But the issue is still the same as I cannot see the options available under Tools and other menu options. In fact, it crashes abruptly and it does not show all the menu options. Not sure if I s'd be fixing some of the services or entries in the registry.

Vikas,

Can you give us as many details as you can about your situation?  What is your operating system? Is there a chance that you are opening Reader instead of Acrobat Pro?  They look very similar at first glance.  If your default PDF handler is NOT Acrobat Pro, it can open your PFDs in a different app.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for writing to me.

Here is the info furnished for you:

OS : Windows 11 Enterprise

I am facing this issue with Acrobat DC Pro.

I indeed tried recreating my profile again and it worked for a brief time but the problem is recurring now.

Thanks, Vikas
