Intertrust has released an updated version of its Doc Box plugin for Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Acrobat Reader 5.0.

Users that require the Intertrust digital rights management system in order to open secure pdf files are encouraged to download the new plugin. This new plugin also fixes problems for people who had system or debugger conflicts with the Doc Box plugin.

NOTE: This update is not supported on Windows 95. If you are using Windows 95 and are having issues with DocBox.api, simply remove any and all instances of this plugin. You can find the plugin by doing a search for "docbox.api" on your system.

Am running on W95. Have the same 'docbox epi' error as lots of others - download appeared successful - but adobe 5 failed to install properly and crashed at 'initializing docbox......'
Have downloaded the updated 'docboxinstaller.exe' and installed it apparently successfully - but adobe still stops at 'initializing docbox.api' and system message is now that 'can't find acrobat external window handler'. Can anyone help? Am I installing adobe and/or the external plug in to the right directory?

I am Using win95,when trying to install reader 5 each time i try to run application when installation was done successfully i receive error message and can't use adobe at all.
seems the problem had to be with "docbox.api" and then i get te message:Acrord32: "This programme has performed an illegal operation and will shut down"
i used reader 4.05 and it was fine now i lost the older version and can't use reader 5..looking for advise, thx all!.

Help! I can't use Acrobat Reader! It seemed to download and install OK but I can't access the application. During the initilisation process, just when I'm told its "Initialising docbox.api...." I bomb out with the following error message Acrord32: "This programme has performed an illegal operation and will shut down". I have downloaded the Doc Box plugin as per Chris Holm's message but this seems to have had no effect. Any suggestions? I'm using Windows 95.

I don't think I ever written down the solution myself in this thread or any other thread. Hmm people might start to think I'm just hanging out here to make fun of those docbox addicts...
