Hello Adobe Community,

Just reinstalled Adobe Reader (build 25.1.21111.0) on my MacBook Air (Tahoe 26.2). Unfortunately, when trying to enter files to sign a document, the document is greyed right after hitting “+” button. I cannot select any file and I’m bound to quit Adobe (by forcing the system).

Tried to reinstall but I always in the same place a for the record, I used to run the same version in the past and it worked fine!

Happy to hear your thoughts !

    Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out, we are sorry for the trouble.

Just to make sure I’m understanding you correctly:
After reinstalling Acrobat Reader (25.1.21111.0) on macOS Tahoe 26.2, when you click the “+” button to add a file for signing, the file picker opens but all documents appear greyed out and unselectable, and Acrobat becomes unresponsive, forcing you to quit. And this same setup worked fine for you in the past.

Could you please answer a couple of quick questions to narrow this down:

    • Does this happen with all file types (PDFs, images, etc.) or only PDFs?
    • Are the files stored locally on your Mac, or are you trying to pick them from iCloud/OneDrive/Google Drive?
    • Do you see the same behavior if you try a different path, like Tools > Fill & Sign > Add File?

Here are a few things you can try :

    1. Try placing a PDF directly on your Desktop and see if it becomes selectable.
If Desktop files work but cloud files don’t, the issue may be related to macOS cloud permissions or file provider access.
    2. Reset Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082 and reboot the application and check.
    3. Quick sanity check: is this specific to Sign? Can you open the same greyed-out file normally in Acrobat (File > Open)? This helps confirm whether the problem is isolated to the Sign flow vs. general file access.

If it still doesn’t work, a short screen recording of what happens after clicking “+”, and
Confirmation of whether the files are local or cloud-based, would really help us to pinpoint whether this is a macOS Tahoe compatibility issue or something specific to the Sign workflow.

    Hello Amal,

Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, I cannot even reach the file picker. After hitting the “+” button, the screen turns grey and Acrobate reader is irresponsive. I have the very same pattern with a different path.

    Kind regards
