Content in Tags is Deleted After Using "Edit" Function and Saving

I am having a problem where the content in my tags is being deleted. This happens after I use the "Edit" functions and save my progress. After I do this, my tags remain but they are now empty--the content in the tags has been deleted. This is very frustrating, and it wastes a lot of my time, as I have to go through and retag everything. How do I fix this issue?

@ooo_livi_aah I don't seem to have this problem. Granted, I do perform content edits in the original authoring application and then re-export a fresh, tagged PDF. Maybe you have corrupted preferences which sometimes cause weird behaviors.

@creative explorer Thank you for your thoughts on this. Unfortunately I can't access the original source document and make the changes there, so I'm not able to work around this issue. If corrupted preferences are the source of this problem, do you happen to know what I would need to do to fix that?
