Question

Fillable fields and other glitches.

As a new Acrobat user, I am finding it very hard to keep my acrobat pdf reader working consistently. I am using the most current version of Adobe Acrobat Pro on my Macbook Pro.

I am constantly puzzled by different glitches as I begin to fill in my files. One issue I am currently experiencing is that I am no longer able to fill in any of the fields on my fillable file. I am just not able to type a thing. I was recently inputting data into my form and was halfway done, then suddenly I just couldn't. The cursor appears on the fields, but it does not allow me to type. Not on any field, not even the fields that are already worked on. This is so puzzling, because it just happens without warning or provocation.

Another issue I have encountered is the inability to add text when the tool is selected. I have, on multiple occasions, tried adding text on my forms and it is a hit or miss. Sometimes it allows me to do so, sometimes it does not. And again, all without provocation. And relative to this, once I fill out my form and save with data and text, the form appears  incomplete with partial data that I had typed in.

Does anyone else run into these issues? These seem to be reccuring issues that I cannot manually fix, but rather have to hope that get solved on their own. Now I'm questioning weather Adobe Acrobat Pro is even worth the money with all these problems and glitches that I encounter. It is counter-productive, frustrating, and all around time consuming.

Any help or suggestions?

Hi @Jesse326474349z21

I hope you're doing well, and I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing.

To help resolve this, please consider the following steps:

  1. First, check if this issue is specific to a particular PDF file or if it occurs with all PDFs. Try opening a different PDF to see if the problem persists. If the file is on a shared network or drive, download it to your computer and try again.

  2. Verify that you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat DC installed. To check your version, go to "Help" > "About Acrobat." Make sure you have version 23.06.20320. If not, check for updates via "Help" > "Check for updates" and reboot your computer after updating.

  3. Attempt to repair the installation from the help menu (Windows only) to see if that resolves the issue.

  4. Consider resetting the Acrobat preferences by following the instructions provided here: How to Reset Acrobat Preference Settings to Default.

  5. In Windows, try creating a new test user profile with full admin rights. For Mac users, enabling the root account and testing the application from there might help identify the problem.

  6. If none of the above steps work, you can try removing the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool available here: Acrobat Cleaner Tool. After removal, reboot your computer and reinstall the application using the direct link from the official Adobe website: Acrobat DC Downloads.

Please let us know how these steps go, and if the issue persists, feel free to reach out for further assistance.
