How to attach PDF to email for the NEW version of outlook.

My adobe keeps trying to send emails with the old vbersion of outlook and it freezes the computer. How do I set it up to work with the new outlook??

This integration gap between Acrobat and the New Outlook is a significant drain on our daily productivity.

At [b]oak loop properties pearland[/b], we have fully migrated our office environment to the "New Outlook" to stay current with Windows 11 updates, but the "Share" function in Acrobat continues to be a major bottleneck. For our [b]pearland property management[/b] workflow, we are constantly sending out finalized lease agreements and maintenance contracts. Having Acrobat fail to recognize the default mail handler and instead attempt to launch the legacy Outlook (which we no longer use) adds unnecessary manual steps to every document we process.

When we are handling high volumes of paperwork for our [b]rental properties pearland[/b] portfolio, these "small" technical hurdles really add up. I’ve seen the comments about this being a Microsoft API issue, but is there truly no manual workaround in the Acrobat preferences to force a call to the new executable path?

For localized service firms like ours, we really need these two platforms to communicate without having to revert to the legacy interface just to send a quick email attachment.

Hi!!

Can someone confirm if it’s still not possible to “Share PDF” to New Outlook?
It seems to open Outlook Classic instead.

This is on Acrobat Reader, version 2026.001.21662, on Windows 11 Pro 25H2 26200.8655.

Also, when opening this link:
https://adobe.ly/4jfGNWU it seems to redirect to Microsoft Roadmap without an Feature ID or Keyword.

Is there a specific one that I should be looking for?

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We’re sorry for the trouble you had.

Could you please share more details about the issue? Do you get any error message? Are you on a Mac or Windows machine, and what is the version? Are you using the Acrobat desktop app or the freeware Acrobat Reader?

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: Version: 26.001.21563. Planned update, May 18, 2026. Check for any pending updates by navigating to Menu > Help> Check for Updates. Install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Hi Anand, This is the error message -

We have the latest patch for Adobe, seems to be an issue with Adobe not being able to open New Outlook to send a file as email attachment.

Here is a picture. Outlook New is set to default email application for all file types in Windows, I click next here and it opens an email form in the old outlook, there is no option to change the application Adobe is calling default..

I'm still having the same problem, it is incredible that Adobe didn't added yet the possibility to send attachments using the New Outlook!

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

We are already aware of the issue, but this is something Microsoft has to fix.

Acrobat only calls for the application APIs to launch, however, support for the Old and New UI for Outlook is something Microsoft has to share. Since there is no ETA for the fix from their side, we can do very little on this.

That being said, I will update the thread as and when I hear back from the team on any updates.

Hi! I am having the same problem. When I try to send the pdf directly through Adobe Acrobat Reader, it opens the Old Outlook, instead of the New Outlook. Anyone knows how to solve the problem?

I have the New Outlook configured as the default app to open the mail.

Hope you are doing well.

Would you mind sharing the steps you are doing to attach PDF to email? A small video recording of the same would be very helpful.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.06.20380 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

The problem seems to be that Acrobat is using outlook.exe rather than the default email app. It should be a simple change for them to make.
