I can only see the toolbar. Nothing else unless I do ctrl + l.

I hit something and now only the floating toolbar is there. I can’t see any of the documents when I open them.

Thank you! I have been trying to figure this out for weeks! usually when I hit the little dot it closed it. I do see in the menu an option to Disable new acrobat.

Thanks for starting this thread. It’s very time consuming doing some of the work arounds listed. Please fix this.

This worked for me, solution suggestion from Copilot.  I manually added the DWORD in Regedit.

    Registry Editor

    1. Open regedit
    2. Navigate to:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\AVGeneral
    3. Create or edit DWORD (32-bit) value: bEnableAV2
    4. Set it to 0
    5. Restart Acrobat

    PowerShell

    Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKCU:\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\AVGeneral" -Name "bEnableAV2" -Type DWord -Value 0

    • This key applies to Acrobat DC (Pro/Standard).
    • Reader uses the same key under the Reader path.
    • If the key doesn’t exist, Acrobat defaults to the new UI, so you must create it.

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Omg I have been losing my mind trying to get my character sheets for my DnD sesh, and suddenly acrobat became a little Circle. And when I opened a PDF it was just a toolbar.

Has anyone tried uninstalling the latest update? I cannot work like this. I need to have multiple documents open at once and I barely get one opened and it is so slow. Between the ridiculous AI tools dragging it down, now I can’t even open a PDF without it taking up my entire screen?! This is NOT user friendly. The work arounds do work, but why am I using a work around to be able to open a document. You have one job Adobe, let us open documents...that’s it!

I am having this same issue and it is insane that Adobe unleasehd this “update?”  on its users. The only fix for me has been to hover over Acrobat icon and rightclick the document name, then hit “maximize”

It won’t even maximize for me.  CTRL  + L will open the file, but then nothing can be done with the file.  Clicking on the invisible dot doesn’t work for me either, as it does with others.  Very frustrating.  Please fix a.s.a.p Adobe.

I completely agree with the other comments here. The new Acrobat interface is extremely frustrating and unintuitive.

It was unnecessarily difficult to open a document. The floating toolbar behavior caused the program to appear broken, and in many cases I was left with only the tools panel visible and no document window. Clicking slightly off-target often minimized or closed the program entirely. On larger or ultra-wide monitors, the window behavior is especially problematic.

If a user has a typical, cluttered desktop, the interface increases the likelihood of accidentally opening the wrong file or closing the intended one. The workflow that used to be simple and predictable is now disruptive and inefficient.

Disabling the “New Acrobat” experience immediately resolved these issues. That alone suggests the redesign introduced usability problems that were not present in the classic interface.

Acrobat is a strong product. It does not need dramatic interface overhauls. Incremental improvements to stability and workflow would be far more valuable than a complete UI redesign that impairs usability.

Please prioritize functionality and user experience over visual redesign.

It is absolutely amazing how incompetent Adobe is. Your “improvement” to Acrobat has rendered it unusable in a trial this morning.

    As per @ktsurly

Hover over Adobe icon in tool bar. Document name should show up. Right click on document name and you will be presented options: move, maximize, etc. Selecting maximize will restore document to full size but if you try to reduce the size of the document on the screen it will revert to the same vertifcal tool bar, without the document.

Try this: Hover over Adobe icon in tool bar. Document name should show up. Right click on document name and you will be presented options: move, maximize, etc. Then select “move”. Using the arrow keys, increase the size of the document until it is possible to drag the corner of the document to the desired size. This should correct the issue and enable full sizing funtionality.

Hey everyone, I think I might have found an accidental solution, or at least it worked for me. When I opened the document I would only see the toolbar and a near invisible circle next to it, I somehow managed to click on the circle and drag it and saw that my window with the PDF was growing larger until I dragged it to the size I wanted. I closed and opened the app with multiple documents since then and its still the correct size. Hope it works for the rest of you.
