I just downloaded the new Acrobat DC, and I'm having alot of problems with it. It's very, very slow. It has trouble opening/saving/closing/doing anything. Is there anything that can be done to help it run a little more, well, normally?

I fixed it! I used the analyze wait chain feature in task manager while opening a PDF and having to wait 12 seconds.. and it showed the wait chain was blocked by the Speech SDK. So I went to my Adobe PDF Plugins folder, which in my case is C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\plug_ins and deleted the ReadOutLoud.api plugin. (I had to close all instances of Acrobat DC first, and I also had to click the Windows UAC Popup requesting elevated permission to delete the plugin.) Now.. instant Adobe Acrobat DC loads!!

I had same problem. After installation of Adobe Acrobat DC (part of the very expensive Creative Cloud Suite), my PC came to a crawl.  Disk utilization was pegged at 100%, but had a difficult time identifying the root cause.  After un-installing Adobe Acrobat DC, the system immediately returned to normal operations;  Specs:  Windows 10 Pro, Dell PC i5-4460S  CPU @ 2.90 GHz 64bit, 8 GB RAM,  Outlook indicated add-in was causing performance issues.

THANK YOU CHRISTA!

I logged in, with the sole purpose of thanking you.

Your solution also fixed the slowness problem on my end as well.

Recently, two programs that I use on a daily basis, have come to such a crawl, with their new versions, that they are almost rendered useless.

One is Adobe Acrobat Reader, and the other is the online eMail service from Microsoft, (outlook.com).

Both, when you start them, take almost a minute before they are even useable to any extent.

For my "Reader" fix, I had a little different folder structure than yours, but none the less, was the same identical procedure.

My, "ReadOutLoud.api" file was located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\plug_ins

And, I didn't actually delete my, "ReadOutLoud.api", I simply renamed it, by adding my initials to the beginning of the file name.

Boy, those PDF's just fly open now!

Thanks again Christa.

Horrible Horrible Horrible. Slow (even with the "fixes" applied), and a UI that makes Windows 8 look good.  If I could nuke this application and return to Acrobat Pro XI, I would. I'm not sure that it's the worst redesign ever, but it's in the top 3. What I want to have is the document and the comments/comments tools displayed. I have to reset this every freaking time I open a document. And getting just the comments to display is a PITA. Finally, the response when setting a comment status is slow and inaccurate.ghogarth

The entire All New Adobe Pro DC whatever slick name you want to call it is a drag, literally. It takes forever just to activate a window, I can't find any of my old tools, and all the bells and whistles and sidebars and windows get in my way. It's taking me way longer to work with Acrobat than it did before. Bad on ya, Adobe.

I disabled the setting of security and privacy, for now it does seem to work properly.

Everyone, here is the fix (as noted above) with specifics....

Go to this link, where you manage your Desktop Apps.  >>  Adobe ID

Find the Security & Privacy button.  "Manage" your Desktop App Usage with the button as shown in the screenshot.  Open Acrobat and open any pdf, see how this works for you.  Mine is great now.

I did this and I still have the spinning wheel. The app is totally unusable.

I was noticed the same thing.  It was really maddening.  So I was hunting around on my Adobe ID site and I saw a tab marked "Security & Privacy."

The Desktop App Usage Information was marked "Enabled".  When I disabled it, I noticed that the speed got noticeably faster.

Let me know if anyone else finds the same happened with them.

Absolutely stinks.  I have a rocket fast PC (solid state drives, 32GB RAM, fast i7).  Everything else flies.  Acrobat Pro DC pauses for about 10 seconds after opening ANY PDF before I can scroll, etc.

Absolutely unacceptable.  Please fix ASAP.

Following up - it doesn't always pause on open for every PDF, but various actions do pause, sometimes open, sometimes first scroll, sometimes if I press 'End' or 'Home' on keyboard to go to end or start of doc...

It's basically unusable.
