Question

Missing comments after previous session on Acrobat

I am editing an Adobe document on Acrobat Reader, and have made hundreds of comments representing hours and hours of work. Several times I have come back to the document after a previous session and found that several of my comments are missing. The document text remains highlighted but there is an empty comment box. Throughout the session I check the sync status and it shows that it is currently synched. However, the problem persists, to varying degrees. For example, this morning only two comments were missing, but last week there were about a dozen and a half that I had to go back and redo. Any insights or suggestions?

Hi Vled

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described the comments disappear from the PDF file

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the latest version installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates and reboot the computer once.

If the PDF is on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer first and check if that makes any difference.

I'm wondering if your comment text color got set to white, or if the opacity of your text box got set to 0%.What is the fill color of your text box comment? Please try to choose a comment that you can actually see, and then try "Make Properties Default" and see if that helps.

Amal,

Thank you for responding. I just updated to the latest version of Acrobat DC. I don't know if it will help the problem yet until I'm able to use it for a while and see if I still lose comments.

Regarding your questions about text color, that line of thinking is not what I was referring to. What I meant was, when I wish to comment on a portion of text, I highlight it yellow with the tools, that then creates a comment box on the side. When I lose comments, when they go missing, that text is still highlighted yellow, and there is still a corresponding comment BOX, but the comment inside is gone. Somehow Acrobat is failing to save certain random comments out of the several that I make during each session and I have had to go back, located the highlighted text and the empty comment box, and retype in all of the missing comments.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. I hope this step of updating will help. If you think of any other possible suggestions or solutions, please let me know.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the delay in response. Please try to reset the Acrobat Preferences to default as described in the help page - https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile in Windows or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.
