Question

Pan not working in Acrobat DC

We are finding that our new versions of Acrobat DC tend to lock up when using the pan command.

This problem is occuring on all of our newer computers.  We have tried unloading and reloading the software to no avail.

Is there a fix for this?

Hi Joe,

Thanks for reporting this to us.

Would you mind confirming the exact version of Acrobat you are working on currently? Open Acrobat>help>About Acrobat

Is it just the Pan command that is causing trouble or any other tool too? Navigate to Edit> Preferences> Under General, uncheck the box next to "Make Hand tool select text & images". Check the box next to "Make Hand tool read articles"

and see if that makes a difference.

If that doesn't help then, Navigate to Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable  "Protected View" and "Enhanced Security">OK>close and reopen Acrobat and check back.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hi Joe

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Acrobat DC and the OS you are using? To check the version of the application go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.1.20085 installed.  Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also, try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and check.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. if the file is stored on a shared network drive, please download the file to your computer locally and then try using it.

You may also try to turn off the protected mode (Win Only) for testing. Go to edit  > Preferences > enhanced security > uncheck ’ enable protected mode in startup’, turn off the protected mode and uncheck enhance security > click OK and reboot the computer once.

Note: Please turn on the security after testing to avoid any security risk.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

Also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there

Regards'
