PDF Background Missing

Question

Thiis shoud have a blue box with text.

This is NOT:

Computer specific
User specific
PDF incorrect (It opens elsewhere correctly)
an effect of edit>Preferences>page Display>Large Images
an effect of edit>Preferences>page Display>Show Transparency Grid
an effect of edit>Preferences>Accessibility>Replace Document colors

I have tried multiple combiniations of the above and they all fail. This is not a problem with the PDF as other softwares run it just fine. This is Adobe XI.

I can get it to run in MS Edge, other versions of Adobe, and when a fresh install of Adobe XI is not updated (however it has other problems when not updated)

I hope you already have found a solution to your problem.
Further to what @Amal. suggested.

If you add a background to a newly created file, does your app show that one?
Try repairing the app. To repair the app, launch Acrobat > Help > repair Acrobat installation. If possible, restart the machine and try again.
