Question

READ-ONLY for all files

The new version of adobe will not allow on to save a file without creating a new file.

Says " The file may be read-only or another user may have it open.  Please save the document with a different name or different folder."

This has something to do with the new preview when the file is selected in the Windows Explorer.

Hi Saholmes

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.  As described, you are unable to save the PDF and getting the above mentioned error

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive, please download it to your computer locally and try again.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat D you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 21.11.20039 installed. Go to help > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

Hi, thank you for your responce...  This is a new issue caused by the updated acrobat and is happening with any file.   As I mentioned above, it has something to do with the new preview in explorer that adobe just added.  It is a bug that the programers need to fix.   When you have a file selected in explorer and small preview of the file appears... this has no benefit and should be disabled.

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that. Would you mind sharing a small video recording of the steps you are doing and the issue for a better understanding.

Also, please try to turn off the protected mode for testing (Win Only) and see if that works. Go to Edit > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Uncheck 'Enable Protected mode at startup' > Turn off the Protected mode and uncheck 'Enhanced Security' > Click OK and reboot the computer.

Note: Please turn on the security aftertesting to avoid any security risks.

Regards

Amal
