Request e-signatures no longer working after latest update.

I noticed today that an update was apparently applied to Acrobat, which is now running Continuous Release | Version 2026.001.21662 | 64-bit.

I noticed this because I see new features like “generate podcast” or “generate presentation”, etc.

The problem is that I also notice I can no longer request e-signatures for my docs.

When I select the option, it brings up the window to start typing in the names/emails of the people I need signatures from, and at the same time I see it checking for form fields.  When the form field checker completes, though, Acrobat falls to the back of my active apps, and when I click back into it, it’s all grayed out waiting for me to fill in the names/emails, but that dialog is gone, and I can’t bring it up.  The only way out is to kill the Acrobat app in task manager.

I’ve rebooted, removed and re-installed, but I’m having the same problem every time.

Here’s a video showing exactly what’s happening.  Note that I intentionally left the doc in a blank white area just because I don’t want the content of the doc shown publicly, but it’s just a basic text doc with some sig lines at the bottom.

I would appreciate any help I can get fixing this.

I am having the exact same issue, I can still sign for myself, but I can’t request e-signatures which is the only reason I have this program, the request e-signatures section is completely missing now, this occurred months ago, I was the first user to have it occur, then 4 others lost their option as well, now the whole business no longer has the option, our IT has looked into it and can’t find anything on their end. they believe it's an adobe issue. Please if anyone knows a solution let me know, otherwise we are going to have to look for a better program, and I like the functionality of adobe.

    Hi @satisfied_expert7188,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble this has caused, especially now that it's affecting your entire business rather than just one person.

To confirm what we're seeing: you can still sign documents yourself, but the option to request e-signatures from others has disappeared entirely, rather than erroring out or freezing, and this is now affecting everyone in your organization.

A few things that will help us narrow this down further:

    1. Are you seeing this on the Acrobat desktop app, on the web (https://adobe.ly/3TcUb6W), or both? Does it look the same in each?

    2. Is the Request e-signatures option missing only from the Home screen, or also from the Tools menu or All Tools panel?

    3. What's the exact Acrobat version and operating system for the affected users? You can find the version under Menu > Help > About Adobe Acrobat.

    4. A screenshot of your Home or Tools screen as it currently appears would help us confirm exactly what's missing.

Please share these details, and we'll take it from there.

    Thanks,
    ^BS

What I do: All Tool, Prepare a Form, Click Create Form (DO NOT check the box ‘This document requires signatures’ or this will not work), select Digital Signature from the list from Prepare a Form, put your cursor where you want the digital signature and place the box that appears. Hit ESC 2x for Adobe to quit trying to put another box. Stretch the box as big or small as you need. Hit the X at the top where Prepare A Form is to close that menu. You should see a red flag on the left side of the signature box to know you were successful. I just completed this for a document I need my ML to sign.

My company is experiencing e-signature request issue with multiple users for a week now we were directed to use the Registry Editor route to solve the issue but that didn’t work. Any recommendation?

    Hey Amal,

I’ve checked the request e signature option on adobe acrobat web but it's still showing "e signing services are temporarily unavailable.” any workaround you could suggest to check if its still not working?

I also have the same issue. The e-signature is actually the only reason I use adobe. Would you please solve this problem as soon as possible?

    Hi @Hannah Adams 13

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble.

Are you on a Mac or Windows machine, and what is the version? Are you using Acrobat, or the freeware Acrobat Reader desktop app? Please share a screenshot of the e-signature section? A small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs would be very helpful.

Please try to use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove the installed app and restart the machine, and reinstall Acrobat.

If the issue still persists, please capture the logs, and share it with us for further investigation. To collect the logs, please refer to this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html

I have re-installed 3 different ways - from our MSI within company portal, on the Adobe Acrobat website and through Creative Cloud - each with the cleanup tool and a fresh install.

    Hi Jeffrey383210672sz7,

It seems that your issue may be different from what was previously discussed. Could you please confirm if only the signatures are missing under the Fill & Sign tool? If so, kindly provide the current versions of Adobe Acrobat and your operating system. We will review this issue promptly.

    Thanks,

I’ve been having problems with my own e-signature (image of my signature) since the recent updates this month. My signature image is just a question mark in a box and I’m unable to delete it nor change it in anyway. This is a huge headache because I apply my own signature regularly to court forms and other documents for my work. I have regularly updated and have the most current update avaialble installed and there has been no change.

Similar problem here.  There is no visible signature for e-sign.  Just a box with a question mark.  Screenshot shown.  Software is fully up to date.

I wanted to chime in and confirm that we are seeing this exact behavior on our 64-bit Continuous Release version as well.

This bug is a major bottleneck for our administrative workflow. In the field of pearland property management, we rely heavily on the e-signature tool to finalize lease renewals and management agreements for our rental properties pearland portfolio. When the dialog box disappears and grays out the screen, it essentially halts our entire contract cycle.

At oak loop properties pearland, we tried the registry edit suggested by the Adobe employee (bDisableNativeWebviews), but unfortunately, it didn’t resolve the issue on our end. The only thing that has kept our team operational is the "Disable New Acrobat" workaround mentioned by Randy.

Is there a specific timeline for a patch? For localized service firms that handle high volumes of digital paperwork, this isn't just a minor UI bug—it’s a business-critical failure.

    Hi @Angell EYE

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Please try creating the below resgitry key and let me know if it resolves your issue.

    Steps:

    1. Close Acrobat
    2. Open regedit.exe
    3. Browse to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FillSign
    4. Right click → Create → New → Dword (32-bit)
    5. Create the dword bShowFFDProgressBar with data value as 0
    6. Now open Acrobat and try to execute your workflow.

    Thanks,

    Shakti
