It's been a good 20 years, but if I have to pay for something like rotate, then it's time to uninstall used Windows 10 default pdf viewer.

This is correct, rotate page has never been a free feature. This has always been a part of paid feature Organize Pages.

With freeware, you can only rotate the page view using Acrobat Reader DC desktop app.

Please read the best responses in this topic before posting messages that add to the confusion.

Rotating the view is not the same as rotating the page.

That's all, folks!

I was so frustrated by the change, that i had been using an alternative.
Finally did a google search and found this discussion.
.
Once i understood there is a different menu item in the popup menu,
I was exploring ways that maybe I could redirect the action of the icon back to the view instead of rotate document.
.
In the end, I found that you can add a rotate view icon to the tool bar.
See below ---
.
.
Open a document
-
Right click on toolbar - I clicked on bar that has page numbers, printer, magnifier, etc
Click "Show Page Display Tools"
Click "Clockwise" and/or "Counterclosckwise"
.
This will place the ROTATE VIEW icons onto the toolbard next to the page numbers
.
Unfortunately - the rotate view icons are identical to rotate document icons so you will have to remember which one is which.
.
###############################
###### would have been nice if the "Adobe Employee" would have added
###### this information instead of just saying rotate was never free.

.
.
Hope this helps.

For those of you saying go to the View Menu and then Rotate view for the FREE Adobe Reader DC, IT was possible to rotate the view in the FREE version using the right click context menu on the page. Now whenever you do that the software asks you to subscribe to it.

Most users have used the right click short cut for the ease of use and time saving benefits..Now to click on a View tab at the top of the screen and then click on Rotate is too time consuming.

I for one was able to ROTATE the VIEW with the Right Click context menu ever since i had the free version of Adobe Reader (over 20 years).

Now i will use FOXIT PDF Reader instead of Adobe's Pay to play "Free" Reader

Sorry. I have to disagree with the Experts. I've been using Acrobat since it was first released. But I have only had the need to rotate pages in the last couple of years. In that time it has always worked (it worked a couple of weeks ago) and I have never had to upgrade to get it. Let's face it, why would I pay for a "single" feature that is pretty basic? Over the decades I've shipped enough money Adobe's way... like for PageMaker after Adobe bought out Aldus.

Sorry, I screwed up on my post. Please disregard. It was "View" that I was using. Sorry for the static.

Literally came here for the exact same issue and this thread resolved it. You were definitely able to rotate view by right clicking. You still can, but we need to click "rotate view clockwise," which is now further down the options versus clicking the circular arrow.

Leo,

You could just use Control, Shift, + on your keyboard to rotate the view clockwise or Control, Shift, - for counter-clockwise. I actually found the keyboard strokes to be faster and having to click on the toolbar. Or you can just add the tools you need to your toolbar and you are done. I still don't have an answer for a way to remove the ad laden tool.

I have the similar issue , Adobe DC 64-bit, 21.011.20039, can't rotate anymore, when trying, got 7-day trial, any reocmmendatin?that happens whether I click the icon or right click and then click the rotate.

I came here for the same reason. I think they changed what the circular arrow icon goes to. you have to use the view menu now. This will cause a lot of problems for them. I will be switching to another reader as well. unforced error

I have an employee who has the paid version installed, which is Acrobat DC (64-bit) 21.011.20039. She is getting the same as the posters above. She said she just started getting the message for the Free 7-Day Trial. I went into View menu and clicked on both the left and right rotation tools and they showed up on her menu. When I click on the left or the right rotate tool, they provide the correct rotation. My question is how can I get rid of the extra rotation icon that will not disappear, and if accidentally clicked will show the annoying free 7-Day Trial box? I really don't want to resort to removing and re-installing the software again. I have uploaded a screenshot of what I'm seeing. The tool on the far right is the one I want to remove.

Thank you for your help,

I have been rotating landscape documents for viewing purposes for years in the FREE adobe reader.

But recently with the new upgrades have to pay to view a document so i don't have to tilt my head??????

This is just a money making grab.

So will just not use the program anymore as not paying just to upgrade so i can view a landscape document the right way round.  as only want to view not change & save!!!!

very annoyed with adobe changing this may even cancel the functions i do pay for and go with a different company all together.

In Acrobat Reader you can rotate the view of documents for free!

The responses have not been accurate saying that rotating pages was never a thing without a paid subscription. It alway has been possible inside an open document.  Now it is not.  Last week I used this and rotated documents.  This week it won't rotate without my signing up for a "free" 7 day trial. Anyone care to guess what my next approach to .pdf management  is going to be?

So, Alex, do you mean you go to the View menu (top bar) - choose Rotate View - and it asks for a subscription then?

"then it's time to uninstall used Windows 10 default pdf viewer."

You cannot.

In Windows 10 the default PDF viewer is MS Edge, not Acrobat Reader.

Rotate DOCUMENT may never have been free, but you could rotate the view to see if you even want it.  You can no longer rote the view for free? wow...

I don't know where you get that idea. Is your question, then, HOW do I rotate the view in the free Acrobat Reader DC?
