Question

Sanitising of document causes pixelation

Hello all,

I am trying to clean up and sanitise a PDF text file to remove unwanted metadata. I can use the sanitise function to remove correctly what I need but I end up with two problems.

1. Some of the text can loose characters. (like 'i' )

2. A lot of the text stops being vectorised and becomes pixelated.

Can anyone help me out here?

Many Thanks

Hi @Michael289646709788

Thanks for reaching out.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version, go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.03.20215 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also, try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

Let us know how it goes

Hello Amal,

This situation is happening with more than one PDF.

I have tried to reset the preferences and this makes no difference.

I couldn't repair the install as it was asking for a CDRom.

What else do you think I could try?

I also have access to Mac which seems to do the same thing when I Sanitise.

The software is updated to the latest version.

To be more clear, I can see that:

When I remove 'Hidden text' this causes me to loose some characters in the text. Most notibly 'i'.

When I remove 'Overlapping objects' this causes the pixelation.
