Question

Where has the check box gone?!

I have just updated to Acrobat Pro CC 2009.008.20071 and now when I bring up a list of comments on a PDF design file there is no longer a check box to tick off changes as I go. I used to filter by unchecked comments to keep track of what fixes had been actioned. The check box is no longer there.

There are more approval options (completed/apprvoed/add check box etc) in the hamburger dropdown but that is surely not the process for checking off each edit?!

I have identified a temporary (but less good) workaround - (shift + k) which ticks the corner of the box but it doesn't then take you to the next comment as occurred previously, meaning that you need to click on the next one. This actually slows down workflow significantly in a graphic design setting where changes are actioned at speed and timed/. I have read in other forums that some designers used to press the space bar to tick and move to the next change to be even faster. @

Agreed, checkbox need to come back. The new workflow is much slower. Additionally I'm finding the filtering is not working.

Adobe, bring the checkbox back, it was the only way to ensure every edit was made with a quick glance or by sorting.

Why "fix" something that isn't broken. Bring back the checkbox already. Spot check amends are bad enough with the checkbox let alone without it. Now I've got to spend double the amount of time on these bad boys than what I should have to!

+1 to bring back the checkbox to it's original state.

One of the typical bad choices Adobe makes. How the hell are they so unaware how customers use their applications? It is indeed a sad thing.

They better bring back the damn check box, I don't want to use old versions simply because they decided to erase important functions.

Yeah as a designer, I really relied on that function of the checkboxes when making edits. It was great to be able to filter which edits were done as well.

This is an AWFUL change. Please bring back the old style! I wish I had never updated.

In the meantime . . .

As a solution to the check box issue in question, I have verified and suggest this process with Acrobat 2019.008.20074 on Windows 10 Pro. While the steps are slightly different than before it is just as fast as previous versions for processing multiple changes.

Follow these steps;

1) Open document.

2) Open comment panel.

3) Process first item.

4) When the first item is completed,

    >right click on the comment,

    >choose Add Checkmark

5) Left click Filter Comments Icon at the top of the comments panel,

select Unchecked under the CHECKED option,

then click Apply on the lower right of the dialogue.

6) Proceed to process items in the list.

As each item is completed simply

    >right click

    >choose Add Checkmark and the item will hide automatically.

7) Checked and/or Unchecked comments can now be filtered together or seperately.

This has been a real productivity killer for me as well. Please accept my vote for bringing back the check box!

As you can see from the comments below - as a collective we do not feel that this issue has been resolved/answered/addressed...YET. Can you unmark this as resolved please?

Andrea, this is your question, and you are the one who gets to pick the correct answer. I fixed it at your request. The User Voice says the checkbox will come back (YAY), so be sure to vote there as well.

Oh thanks @jane-e – this is my first post - seems it's a whopper of a question!

Hi AndreaDFresco,

I do not know who marked the answer correct, but I agree with Colin Flashman and others about bringing back the checkbox. This is a user-to-user forum. There is another forum called User Voice where bug reports and feature requests to the engineers should be made. I just checked, and as of today there are 185 votes for bringing back the checkbox.

Here‘s the good news: there is also a note from the engineers that this is now PLANNED! Yay to Adobe for listening!

PLEASE Don't make the user go through a menu to check off a comment! You DOUBLE the time it takes to go through comments…

Please cast your vote at the link above, and Andrea, if you disagree about the “correct” answer, you can choose another or ask a moderator to do it for you.

I have tried and even cannot find the Checkbox rightclicking the comment ! Where it is ?

If Adobe won't bring back this feature, the Document Cloud is pretty useless for me and my customers.
