I read that some store owners in California report having shoplifters with calculators to make sure they stay under that amount. Unbelievable.

-Edit- I also read that the sign above was placed by someone other than the city officials. Still, it's true though that they came up with this amount.

Fireworks are banned in the city where I live

We had 3 fires encroaching on our home today, all within a few hours of each other. I suspect a local fire bug or some kids playing with fireworks.

Swift action by county FD crews and helicopters with Phos-Chek, averted a disaster.

I'm a little nervous about tomorrow.

A few years ago, before fireworks were banned, several grass/brush fires were started by careless use of fireworks

In spite of that people still go out in the county to buy fireworks and cause fires... it has been warm-to-hot here for a week or so, and the 4th is supposed to be 92 so I'm sure every fire station is making sure they are ready
