Hello -

ATM Light 4.1 for Windows has just been posted on the adobe.com web site for free download. If you do not require the font management features that ATM Deluxe supplies, then this is the download you need. Note, the file size is about 12.7 megabytes to accomodate the universal installer.

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/atmwin.htm

If you are an ATM Deluxe 4.0 user, *do not* download this installer as it is incompatible with ATM Deluxe. ATM Deluxe 4.0 users who wish to upgrade to ATM Deluxe 4.1 must purchase the upgrade available for $29. via . This phone number is for upgrades only and the upgrade package does not include a serial number.

Chris Holm, Adobe Systems Inc.

Features

* Rasterization for Type 1 and PostScript OpenType fonts.
* Universal installer automatically installs the proper version of ATM for the version of Windows you are using (Win 95/98; Win NT4; Win 2000).
* Downloads available for 12 languages, including Japanese.

I just downloaded ATM Lite 4.6.2 for Windows 98 and unzipped the file: ATM_4.6.2_Installer.sit.
I executed that file and it created ATM_4.6.2_Installer (no extension).
When this file is run, Windows asks what program it should be associated with. (I haven't a clue)
I added the extension .exe but that did not work.
There aren't extensive notes regarding installation. What did I do wrong? What do I need to do?

    Thanks for the help.

I think you have downloaded the Macintosh version of the file. Adobe
use SIT only for Macintosh installers.

Hi ... I'm trying to download ATM 4.1 and cannot connect to the FTP site using either a browser or an FTP client. What's going on?

Are you running as an "Administrator"? If not, it will not install.

I downloaded ATM Lite 4.1 for Windows and when I try to run atm41en.exe on my Windows NT V 4.0 SP6, I get the message "...atm41en.exe is not a valid Windows NT application""

I tried this on two machines. I ran it from a command line and from Explorer. The documentation seems to indicate it ought to install on Windows NT.

    What have I done incorrectly?

    Thanks Dov
Actually I regret upgrading to ME - it is not running smoothly with a lot of programs. Am gradually sorting it out but didn't want to download Lite before I checked.

Lyn: Demand a free upgrade to Windows 2000 or Windows XP from Microsoft.

When I upgraded to Windows ME, the box read "Compatible with programs for Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 98 SE", yet I totalled £600 of software that was not compatible, some of which was even listed on Microsoft's website as "by design" (Including their own Microsoft Fax!).

It took me two months, but they eventually sent a cheque for the full amount I claimed, and what's more, they didn't even ask for receipts! (I did include photocopies of all relevant packaging as proof of purchase).

Ironically, if they had just have provided me with a copy of Windows 2000, it would have saved them over £400, as I believe most of the software was/is compatible with Windows 2000, just not Windows ME.

It may be a little late now, but Microsoft were in breach of contract as the claims on the packaging are false.

Actually, you should ask the question the other way around. Did Microsoft do anything in Windows Me to make it incompatible with ATM Lite 4.11.

    We believe not.

Before I jump at this new software:

I have Win 2k, no service packs. PM 6.52 working well, until today. ATM Lite
("4.0 build 90") that came with PM is installed.

Should I download Light 4.1 to resolve a font substitution issue? (PM docs
sent to servive bureau came back with two fonts substituted
    w/courier...several other fonts OK!)

David: Yes, it should fix this.

William: ATM Light is essentially the same as Deluxe, but without the font management capabilities. It doesn't allow you to turn fonts on and off on the fly, nor does it allow you to group them into sets that you can toggle on and off. All it does is make Type 1 fonts work on your system (which is a pretty major thing, of course).

would you send us any special info on installing the ATm lite file we are about to download for windows 98?
Do we need to uninstall the old version of ATM?
and is there a manual that is sent with it
or how do we get one?
