Adobe Writer v5.0

Does anyone know where we can get our hands on Adobe Writer v5.0?  Yes I know it's an old version, but our old software doesn't operate under anything but v5.0.

We're moving the application from a Windows 2000 box to a Windows 2003 box.

Thanks

Brian

I've never heard of "writer" but if you are talking about Adobe ACROBAT you might ask at

Wrier was the precurser the the adobePdf Print Driver version 5 on down used Aodobe Writer or PDF Writer to  convert files to PDF. It was a  convulted process  It would

    • Read the file
    • verify the file was okay by a checksum routine
    • the convert to a .ps File
    • verify the file was okay by a checksum routine
    • Then it was coverted in the background by Distiller to a .pdf
    • verify the file was okay by a checksum routine
    • Then the hidden ps file was destroyed (thrown in Trash and emptied)

Finally the pdf would show up. Originally it could take as long as 5-6 minutes on a fast machine (of that vintage) to mke a PDF.

On my 7100/66 would take about 2 minutes.  On my SE/30 would take about 3-4 minutes.  what slowed everything down was all the checksum test.

If anywhere along the line any checksum test failed the process broke and you had to start over.  Early versions you might have to try 2-3 times to get a PDF.
