We're working on new ways to access the Adobe User to User Forums.

Right now the primary way to access the forums is via the web using an HTTP interface. But it is also possible to access the forums as newsgroups (NNTP).

There is an Alternate ways to access the User to User Forums.Using ISP's servers instead of Adobe didn't help me much. And discussions posted through other servers..we don't think we have ever seen that on the web or through adobe news servers

When I was using my ISP's servers instead of Adobe's, it was because at that particular time trying to access the forum discussions through the Adobe servers was like slugging through molasses.

Also, what is picked up by Google archives includes all the posts and even entire discussions posted through other servers and which we never see on the web or through the Adobe news servers.

My experience when using my ISP's news server (not Adobe's) was that it was entirely possible to read, post and reply to the Adobe forums there without having to log in. Such posts were visible to all news readers but were never added to the forums in the web interface. Maybe pjones is experiencing that?

I've had the opposite experience. I almost never have spam from this format.

But tons and tons and tons on the News servers That I read,

Mozilla, msnews.com, macromedia.com (I have sett to download up to 500 messages and about 5% is junk).

the worst offender because its picked up on giganews, and gmail Ihave set to read up to 100 message per time., and about 10% are junk.

The only server I can read off of and not worry about spam is secnews,netscape.com a secure server

Adobe has it's own newserver, the posts that come throught on the news
server are exactly the same as the ones that come through on the web
servers. Our experiences can't be opposite, because we get the exact
same posts (although I do have the ability to block posts from certain
    users)

how do you manage not to have X-rated Spam and spam sell certain Products, and Drugs and such not, get on the sever. Unless you have set up on a Secure Server.

    AS for My ISP

I Use a DSL connection, and besides the DSL modem, they provided a Router/Switch so That whe if am Pinged I appear as in stealth mode.

So the spam is not coming from MY Connection to my ISP but comes in through NNTP news post or emails sent to my email address.

I have filter setup both at my ISP and through my use of SeaMonkey/Thunderbird. But it still comes in to all of the Newsgroups in some form or another and varying quantities on all the newsgroups I read. I've never read an spam of any type through the web interface.

If you access these forum via a news server other than adobeforums.com
you'll be able to read the messages and to reply...but they won't show
    up here.

Nix the Newsgroup, this way is just right. if the MacroMedia People don't screw it up again.

My ISP although has a Newsgroup server and capable of carrying newsgroups, they have no way of getting a news feed because the line they get from Sprint/Embarq when their news feed server blew up they didn't replace.

And if it propagated to Usenet, you open yourself up to Spam.

The Mozilla Newsgroups have been clogged with spam for X-rated stuff lately because they use Giganews and gmails servers. Giganews and Gmail refuses to do any thing about it.

IF you do NNTP the only way to make it practical is use a Secure Server. Then and only then can you control the Spam.

In other words switch to "NNTP" is a Total Dumb xxx idea.

For you maybe, but not for everyone. I wouldn't even bother posting here
if I had to do so through the web interface.

Everything posted here IS PROPOGATED to usenet.

    Point your newsreader at adobeforums.com.

You'll need to use your user name and password that you used to register
    here.

But please...turn off the autoquote or delete the autoquoted text before
    posting.
