Bug: Post view count is like 1990 (a.k.a. wrong and dated tech)

Logged-in users must not be counted as views when viewing or editing their own posts. This totally skews and falsifies the metrics. Surely this shiny new forum is advanced enough to distinguish between someone else peeking and poking at a topic than the original creator...

Thanks, Mylenium, for raising this issue. We're investigating.

Not completely sure what you mean. I always thought that if the OP visited a post they started that visit should NOT count to the Views count. You are saying it should and that this new forum does not count that type of visit from the OP as a View?

Nope, you got it wrong. it actually does count any edit operation as a view, which is incorrect. In fact it even counts it twice - once when originally re-entering the thread and then a second time after the post has been edited. Both cases are complete nonsense, as inadvertently you could ramp up the view count to insane numbers just by fixing typos . Or in simpler words: I could easily create a "hot" thread and bump it on the lists just by re-editing it a hundred times. This is just so wrong, wrong, wrong.
