Cannot save as image

This issue is so simple that I cannot find related info in any forums.  I mean, all you have to do is open a PDF, and select save as, image, the type of image file, and browse your machine for a location.  I get all that, except it just doesn't work.  Nothing happens.  I've reinstalled Acrobat X Standard, reinstalled Microsoft Office, and have been searching online for an answer for several hours.  It has to be something fundamental, but I just can't get there and this issue is a show-stopper for me as I use this functionality constantly for presentations and proposals.  Please, if anyone has specific information about how too fix this I would sincerely appreciate any relevant advice.
